Les Darlow
Les Darlow The artist uses his unique and unmistakable style to demonstrate his atmospheric approach to storms, cloudscapes, weather, winter scenes and wonderful landscapes. This love of the weather has developed over the years from his love of the outdoors; walking the mountains of the English Lake District, chasing tornadoes in America, snowboarding in Austria, the artist attempts to show both the unbelievable beauty and imminent destruction a storm can bring. A sky, just before a storm strikes can be almost celestial in its appearance. Les paints in all mediums and his pastels techniques are now being taught at many outlets throughout the UK as workshops.

Anne Mackinnon
ABOUT
My work has been inspired by my travels round the world and the cities, landscapes and gardens that I have visited. My own garden has been a labour of love for the past 20 years and a great source of inspiration for my painting.
I paint in watercolour and mixed media and many of my paintings are reproduced as limited edition giclee prints and greeting cards. My work is regularly exhibited throughout the North West of England and my greeting cards are for sale at the Bridgewater Concert Hall and Fletcher Moss Gardens in Manchester, Stockport Tourist Office and Farfield Mill in Cumbria.
Lately my work has been inspired by the hills and dales of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Cumbria. I am fascinated by the patterns, shapes and repetition to be found in the natural world and I love to work outside capturing the changing moods, colour and light in these dramatic landscapes. I have studios in Cumbria and Manchester. My studio in Cumbria is set in the middle of magnificent countryside with an endless source of inspiration just outside the door.
I studied Printed Textiles at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University) and after leaving college I worked as a freelance designer selling to major companies such as Liberty and Heals. I also worked extensively in the greeting card industry.
I was a lecturer in Art and Design for many years teaching at HND and Degree level and ended my teaching career as Head of the Arts, Design, and Media Department at Stockport College. In 2007 I left education to concentrate entirely on my painting.
I have exhibited in London, Manchester, Amsterdam and New York and my work is regularly on show throughout galleries in the North West of England.
All paintings are for sale and most of them are also available as special limited edition giclee prints. These prints are printed on Fine Art archival paper. They are printed using pigment inks which are lightfast for 75 years. Please contact me for details of size, price etc.
I am secretary of the Friends of the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.
I am a trustee of Farfield Mill Arts and Heritage Centre. http://www.annemackinnon.com/
